Paddington was developed largely between 1880 and 1920. Many terrace homes still run on their original clay or early cast iron drain lines — pipes that are now 100 to 140 years old. These pipes were never designed for modern water usage, and they’re riddled with root entry points, joint separations, and stress fractures from decades of ground movement.

Paddington’s narrow lots and terrace layout create a serious access challenge. Traditional excavation would require removing sandstone courtyard paving, heritage ironwork, and in some cases, party-wall structures. Trenchless relining is the only viable permanent repair for most Paddington properties.
